Trade Protection Policy

Trade Protection is a card-for-card exchange tool. No money changes hands through HoloLedger for a protected trade, and there is no compensation, insurance, or dispute-resolution mechanism attached to it.

Version 1.0 · Effective 10 October 2026

1. What Trade Protection does

Once two collectors agree a trade in Messages, either party may start Trade Protection. From that point, HoloLedger:

  • collects a shipping address from each participant, shown only to the other participant, once both have confirmed participation
  • lets each participant record their own dispatch, with an optional carrier/tracking reference they enter themselves — HoloLedger does not independently verify a carrier's tracking data
  • lets each participant confirm they have received the other's card
  • records the trade as complete once both participants have confirmed receipt

This gives both sides a structured, documented sequence and a shared record of what was agreed and dispatched — nothing more.

Shipping addresses are deleted 180 days after both participants confirm receipt.

2. Eligible items

Trade Protection is for official, genuine Pokémon cards only. Proxy, reproduction, custom/fan-made, and other unofficial cards may not be exchanged through Trade Protection, regardless of how accurately they are described — see our Prohibited Items & Content Policy.

3. What Trade Protection is not

  • Not insured. If a card is lost, damaged, or never sent, HoloLedger does not compensate either participant.
  • Not authenticated. HoloLedger does not verify the authenticity or condition of traded cards.
  • Not arbitrated. There is no HoloLedger dispute process for a trade gone wrong — unlike a marketplace purchase, a protected trade has no dispute-eligible reasons, no evidence-submission flow, and no resolution outcomes.
  • Not guaranteed to be recovered. If a counterparty does not dispatch, or sends something other than agreed, HoloLedger has no mechanism to compel dispatch or reverse the exchange.

4. What you should do if a trade goes wrong

Report the other user — see our Moderation Policy. This can lead to account-level enforcement against a bad actor, but it does not recover your card or compensate you. Trading remains at your own risk and judgement. Consider a marketplace purchase, which carries Buyer Protection, if you want a structured refund path.

5. Blocking mid-trade

If you block, or are blocked by, someone with an active protected trade in progress, existing obligations already in motion are not automatically cancelled by the block — see our Terms of Service for the exact current behaviour.
